Daniel Leight, jeune homme très proche du gouvernement de Washington, lutte contre un groupe de terroristes d'armes chimiques. C'est au cours d'un combat contre ces derniers qu'il est laissé pour mort dans une grave explosion. En fait, il se métamorphose en Lightspeed et acquiert la faculté de se déplacer à la vitesse de la lumière...
